Introducing the newest member of The MIB Group — Tom Shanklin

Tom joins the MIB Group in May 2011 as a Management Trainee to build on skills acquired during a highly successful career playing national and international rugby and his studies in Marketing & Management at Brunel University.

His rugby CV is littered with numerous achievements, ranging from 70 caps and 2 Grand Slams for Wales, to being selected for 2 British and Irish Lions tours. After playing full time with Saracens, he joined Cardiff Blues in 2003 and has spent the past 8 years in Wales before having to hang up his boots in April.

MIB Chairman Colin McKenzie has no doubt that following Tom's retirement from rugby, his leadership on the field and dedication to training will transfer seamlessly to a role within MIB to further enhance our thriving company.

Playing a professional team sport to such a high standard has given Tom experience and life qualities that stand him in good stead for the business world, but his love of gadgets is less widely known — as is the fact that he’s the best table tennis player in both the Welsh and Cardiff Blues squads.

Throughout his career Tom has taken time out to help many different charities and rugby clubs. He enjoys working with all kinds of people and looks forward to continuing his work helping improve and promote rugby among the community.

Tom enjoys socialising, cinema and golf and his favourite meal would start with a classic prawn cocktail, followed by a fillet steak for main and a double espresso to finish. His master plan is to develop his business skills until his golf improves and he reaches the PGA tour — so he may be with us for some time!
